Below is a blog from Lee Reeve who covers Ireland for HPKUK.
I was contacted by Mrs O’Neill about a month before I started this project. Kitchen cabinet painter County Cork Eire
She had told me that her kitchen was around 15 years old and it badly needed a face lift and she had a colour consultant in to help her decide on colours for her Kitchen.
I asked her would she send me pictures of the Kitchen. I priced it by email as the client lived about 100 miles from where I am based. We came to an agreement and I gave her a rough idea on when I could start. Kitchen cabinet painter County Cork Eire
My first day when I arrived I met her Husband and family they made me feel more than welcome.
All doors and ironmongery were removed from the Kitchen. I numbered them as I went along. Then I put them all to one side ready to put into my van to work on these in my work shop.
The cabinets were thoroughly degreased including frame work and kicker plates with Krud Kutter cleaning agent. Once the units had been washed and rinsed down I sanded the frame work with my Festool dust free sander. They were then tack ragged down and coated the frame with Otex oil primer tinted to the colour of the finish.
Working away from home
A decision was made to stay overnight in a local B&B as it was too long of a journey to get home. Kitchen cabinet painter County Cork Eire
The following day I lightly sanded the frames down and put a second coat of otex on. I also primed the island with Otex Akva tinted to the colour of the finish. The island was new in the kitchen hence the change of primer.
I packed all my tools up packed the van up with all the cabinet doors and headed home to work on the doors. Kitchen cabinet painter County Cork Eire
Washed, rinsed & sanded
The doors received the same treatment as the frame. Washed rinsed and sanded before any tin of paint was opened. They received two coats of Otex Primer and Finished with two coats of Helmi 30. Once the doors were fully dried. I wrapped each door with bubble wrap so as they wouldn’t damage on such a long journey back to Castletownbere.
When I arrived I applied the first coat of finish to the frame and island. I stayed over night and applied the finish coat the following day.
The main Kitchen was finished in Ivory Tusk (colortrend) and the island was finished in Oval Room Blue (farrow & ball)
I replaced all the doors fitted all the ironmongery and removed all my masking tape and coverings. Kitchen cabinet painter County Cork Eire
The whole family were really impressed with the finish of their Kitchen. The feeling was that it was a brand new kitchen.
Mrs O’Neill sent on a testimonial to me it read;
Lee was like a breath of fresh air to work with on a personal and professional level. His advice quality of work and high level of finish was beyond our dreams. He transformed my kitchen into a bright modern delightful kitchen for me and my family. On a personal level he blended in so well he was almost part of the family and was so easy to work with.
I would highly recommend Lee for any interior painting of kitchens etc.”
